St. Mary's Law Journal

Home

Founded in 1969, the St. Mary’s Law Journal has a strong tradition of producing scholarship that is useful to courts and practicing lawyers. In terms of citation frequency, the Journal has ranked within the top 4% of the more than 970 law reviews nationwide. Our publications have been cited multiple times by the United States Supreme Court, nearly every United States Court of Appeals, and over forty state supreme courts, including the Texas Supreme Court.

Connected to the Journal is the St. Mary’s Journal on Legal Malpractice & Ethics, the nation’s leading law review focused on legal malpractice, professional responsibility, and ethical issues in the legal profession. Recently, Michael J. Ritter’s article, Resolving the Anders Dilemmas: How & Why Texas Should Abandon the Anders Procedure, which was published in Volume 12 of the St. Mary’s Journal on Legal Malpractice & Ethics, was the 2022 recipient of the Texas Bar Foundation’s Outstanding Law Review Article Award.

The members of the St. Mary’s Law Journal are proud of the quality of published scholarship. In hopes of maintaining this tradition of excellence, the Editorial Board is now requesting submissions for publication in the four issues of Volume 54.
